Delete your account
You can delete your CineLyst account and all the data attached to it at any time. There are two ways to do it.
Option 1 — In the app (fastest)
- Open CineLyst and go to Profile
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account
- Confirm when prompted
Deletion runs immediately and cannot be undone.
Option 2 — By email
If you've lost access to the app or can't sign in, email us from the address or phone number linked to your account so we can verify it's you.
We action requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is removed:
- Your account and sign-in details — mobile number or email address
- Your profile — display name and avatar or photo
- Your preferences — genres, languages, actors, directors and eras
- Your activity — watchlist, watched, liked, ratings, skipped and not-interested
- Your reviews and ratings
- Your WatchCircle data — friends, squads, invites and chat messages you sent
What we keep, and why
Anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be retained — for example counts of how many people saved a particular film. These carry no link back to you.
We may also retain a minimal record of the deletion itself where the law requires us to show a request was actioned.
Before you delete
Deletion is permanent. Your watchlist, ratings, reviews and recommendation history cannot be restored afterwards, and signing up again starts a fresh account with no history.
